Middle Chamber Books Podcast Interviews Singer-Songwriter Susan Werner

Werner’s Free Music Download, ‘My Strange Nation,’ Raises Questions

About Political Landscape of the United States, While Reaffirming Love of Country

CHERRY HILL, NJ – May 31, 2006 – Chicago-based singer-songwriter Susan Werner,  whose free music download, “My Strange Nation,” is causing a stir in cyberspace for its controversial view of American history as an example of a dysfunctional family, is the latest guest in Lubetkin & Co. Communications’ “Middle Chamber Books Podcast,” an Internet-distributed audio program that features interviews with authors and creative artists, offering them an opportunity to discuss their works in a podcast environment.

Werner’s most recent CD, “I Can’t Be New,” which features songs written in the style of Cole Porter and George Gershwin, is also available for sale on Lubetkin & Co.’s Middle Chamber Bookstore website, at www.middlechamberbooks.com. There is also a link on the site to Werner’s free download of “My Strange Nation,” at www.susanwerner.com.

In the podcast interview, Werner describes the reaction to “My Strange Nation” from such conservative Bloggers as Ariana Huffington, and talks about her approach to songwriting.

“It's wild to have a song you've written take off around the country without ever leaving your office,” said Werner.  “Podcasting and webcasting are different than being on the radio, because on the radio someone else is choosing what you hear, but with file sharing and podcasting, you've selected what you want to interact with, or your friends have sent you the mp3,  and that feeling of a personal identification with the song, with its particular worldview, has made audience reaction to this song especially intense in shows all over the country.”

“We believe podcasting offers a unique and valuable opportunity for creative professionals like Susan to discuss their work in a controlled environment, while giving interested listeners some real insight into the thinking and personality of artists whose works they might like to sample,” said Steven L. Lubetkin, managing partner of Lubetkin & Co. “Our Middle Chamber Book Store, an Amazon.com partner, also benefits by making available to our customers podcast interviews providing additional insight into the authors whose books we sell. We are seeking opportunities to partner with publishers on advertising and promotional opportunities in connection with these podcasts in the future.”

Middle Chamber Books (www.middlechamberbooks.com) is an online bookstore affiliated with Amazon.com and managed by Lubetkin & Co.’s publishing division. Scott’s books are featured selections at Middle Chamber Books.  (“Middle Chamber” is an allegorical reference to a location deep within King Solomon’s Temple, where, according to legend, initiates were taught the seven liberal arts and sciences. Middle Chamber Books features books in these genres, Lubetkin said.)

Podcasts are digital audio programs distributed via the Internet. Listeners can download podcasts and play them on their computers or transfer them to digital music devices. The programs got their name from the popular practice of transferring them to the Apple iPod music device. Podcasts are either posted to a website, a weblog (“blog”), or made available through a technology called “Really Simple Syndication” (RSS) that lets listeners subscribe to specific podcasts and automatically download them into their portable digital audio players. The Middle Chamber Books Podcast is available in all three methods (see Editors Note below for specifics).

Publishers and authors interested in scheduling authors’ appearances on the podcast should contact Lubetkin & Co. via email (steve@lubetkin.net) or through the bookstore website.

Lubetkin, who hosts the Middle Chamber Books podcasts, is a veteran radio broadcast anchor and corporate communications executive for Bank of America, Fleet, Summit Bank, Standard & Poor’s, Unisys, and Conrail.

Lubetkin & Co. Communications is the leading producer of podcast programming for business and organizational clients, including ACE-INA Insurance, Sun National Bank, Rutgers University, the New Jersey Bankers Association, the South Jersey Pharmaceutical and Medical Technology Industry Alliance, and the Public Relations Society of America.

NJBankers Produces New Podcast Audio Program
With Lubetkin Communications

CHERRY HILL, NJ – May 8, 2006 – NJBankers, a trade association representing the New Jersey banking industry, continuing its partnership with Cherry Hill-based Lubetkin Communications, is distributing a new audio broadcast of a recent seminar program to its members over the Internet, a delivery mechanism known as “podcasting.” NJBankers’ has been distributing podcasts since December 2005.

The newest NJBA podcast features a panel discussion on custom digital printing for the banking industry, with presentations by Diane M. Quinlisk, Senior Manager, Pull Marketing, Kodak Graphic Communications Group; Barbara Pellow, Chief Executive Officer, Pellow and Partners, a digital marketing strategy consultant, and Michael Moran, President, Market Connections, a digital printing and marketing firm.

Lubetkin Communications produces podcast recordings of NJBA seminars, and delivers the Internet podcast “feeds” to NJBankers so that association members can download the recordings for review on their computers or portable digital audio players. The podcasts are available at http://www.njbankers.com and at http://www.njbankmarketing.com. The programs are also available at no charge in the Apple iTunes Music Store (http://www.itunes.com). The RSS feed for the podcasts is http://feeds.feedburner.com/njbapodcasts.

“It’s clear from the success of our first two podcasts that our members want us to provide time-shifting technology like podcasting for their continuing education activities,” said Timothy E. Doherty, NJBankers vice president and director of communications. “Podcasting is a cost-effective and engaging way for our members to participate in these programs, even if they cannot attend in person.”

More than 250 listeners downloaded the first NJBankers podcast program, “Forecast 2006,” a December 1, 2005 panel discussion on the New Jersey state economy, with participants Thomas A. Bracken, President & CEO, Sun Bancorp, Inc.; Dr. Joseph J. Seneca, a professor at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning & Public Policy and Chairman of the New Jersey Council of Economic Advisors; and Janine J. Akey, Chief Examiner, NJ Department of Banking & Insurance.

The second program, a panel discussion of how banks can more effectively serve customers in the not-for-profit sector, has received nearly 100 downloads.

“NJBankers is taking a dramatic leap ahead of other financial trade associations in New Jersey by embracing podcasting technology to increase the reach of its excellent seminar programs,” said Steven L. Lubetkin, managing partner of Lubetkin Communications. “Businesses and trade organizations like NJBankers can provide valuable information to an even broader group of stakeholders through Internet-delivered audio broadcasts like this one.”

South Jersey Pharmaceutical and Medical Technology Alliance Launches
"South Jersey PharmaPod" Podcast Series With Lubetkin Communications

CHERRY HILL, NJ - May 8, 2006 - The South Jersey Pharmaceutical and Medical Technology Industry Alliance (SJPMTIA), taking advantage of rising interest in Internet-distributed audio programs (known as "podcasts"), has partnered with Cherry Hill-based Lubetkin Communications to launch "South Jersey PharmaPod," a podcast to distribute information about the role of the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries in Southern New Jersey.

The first three episodes of the podcast provide complete coverage of SJPMTIA's spring conference, held May 2 at The Enterprise Center at Burlington County College. The programs are available for downloading and listening on computers or digital audio players at no charge at the SJPMTIA's website (www.sjpmtia.org), at the podcast blog, http://sjpharmapod.blogspot.com or via RSS "feed" from http://feeds.feedburner.com/sjpharmapod.

PharmaPod Episode #1 includes remarks by former Rep. Bob Franks, president of the Healthcare Institute of New Jersey and former Gov. James J. Florio, both of whom spoke at the conference. Episode #2 includes a panel of pharmaceutical industry lobbyists, and Episode #3 presents a panel of state legislators including State Sens. Diane Allen and Martha Bark, and Assemblyman Jack Conners.

"We are very excited to be partnering with Lubetkin Communications to take advantage of podcasting technology to reach our members and other interested audiences," said Don Sico, SJPMTIA Executive Director. "Podcasting has especially useful applications for companies in our industry, such as distributing educational programming for traveling sales representatives, medical and allied professionals, with worldwide availability."

"Using a podcast to provide useful information to its members and their customers demonstrates that SJPMTIA has a clear vision for best-practices integration of such new social media into business applications, and underscores SJPMTIA's leading position in the trade association field," said Steven L. Lubetkin, managing partner of Lubetkin & Co. Communications. "Like SJPMTIA, other companies should understand that podcasts can provide clients and other constituencies mission-critical information conveniently, without tying those audiences to a less-flexible programming format like a conference call or a web stream, where busy and time-constrained participants must gather at a common time. Podcast listeners get the information they need -- at a time when they want it."

Podcasts are digital audio or video recordings distributed using Internet technology. Visitors to an organization's website can download podcast programs for review on their desktop computers, or synchronize them with a portable digital media device. Software programs called "feed readers" or "podcatchers" allow users to "subscribe" to podcasts at no cost, and receive new programs in a podcast series automatically.

In addition to the other web locations mentioned, the South Jersey PharmaPod Podcast is available through the Podcasts section of the Apple iTunes Music Store (www.itunes.com).

Lubetkin Communications is a leading provider of business podcasting services in New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. The South Jersey Pharmaceutical and Medical Technology Industry Alliance is a group of men and women united to highlight the relationship between the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries and the South Jersey economy.
